I have “met” some amazing expecting mommies through this blog; I have gotten to interview them and ask them questions and answer their questions and support them and follow the journeys of those that have their own blogs. And there is one feeling that swells up out of them and every mommy I have ever […]
I was extremely secretive over my Surrounded by Supermommies series. Not even the interviewees knew the angle I would take when answering my questions. I didn’t want influence their stories in any way.
Today’s interview is with the beautifully named, Zowrae, who is due on the 4th of December this year. Zowrae is proof that there are mommies who have easy pregnancies, which is something I’m sure many mommies-to-be will be happy to hear!
There has been an overwhelmingly warm and supportive response to yesterday’s post. Thank you all. I’m doing ok, really. Yesterday was a bad day, last night was the worst night since Charly was a newborn, but today isn’t going too badly.
There are two pieces of advice that I would consider the best advice I ever received; and both can only really apply to first time moms.
So, where were we… arriving back in our room and being set up with press-button morphine. Basically every time you start feeling sore, you press the button. I think there is a 10 minute (or so) window between when it will produce the goods. On top of that, every 4 hours a nurse brings you […]
As you all know I created the most comprehensive hospital bag list known to man for Charly’s arrival. This resulted in my taking a small suitcase, a large togbag & an oversized handbag with me to the hospital. I opened each bag only once to get out what I would need & unsurprisingly that was […]
And finally here it is, at least part one is, although I am insanely tired and it has taken weeks to get it all down and so I am sure the quality of the writing may be suffering. The focus of this post is the c-section itself (I’ll be posting the recovery part separately) so […]
Will try catch up while Charly feeds. My right hand still has pins and needles so typing is a bit tough & I am adapting this on my phone from a whatsapp message I sent. I really struggled when deciding whether to share how our first day home went because I am struggling with the […]
I can’t believe I am writing this already! It literally feels like I started this blog yesterday and as today is the final day of this part of the journey, I decided to go back and read all the entries since the beginning. It has made me a little teary eyed & I am feeling […]
I was going to incorporate this into my final post, but then I ended up writing the beginning of a whole different summary post to end this “pregnancy chapter” of Pregnant in Cape Town. For those who have wondered, I still intend to blog on PICT and remain active on Social Media in that name […]
Happy holidays everyone! As mentioned on my social media (for those of you that follow me there), today is the first day in 2 weeks that I am staying home and not seeing anyone other than my husband & my kitties and so, (finally!) a free moment to do a little writing & catch up […]
I am blown away by technology on so many levels and the 4D scan yesterday was no exception – what an amazing experience! Some of you will have seen the video I posted, which is the perfect example of how 4D scans work. When it begins, the shadows make the image quite terrifying, but after […]
As mentioned on social media, the past couple of weeks has been rough. A combination of our little girl growing like crazy and the stress that is putting on my body, with the Summer heat kicking in and insomnia mixed with heartburn and nausea, is taking its toll. I am also having to face some […]
Why is it that every person – male, female, married, divorced, single, old, young, family member or absolute stranger, parent or otherwise – has an opinion on how you should give birth? Personally, I think it is the one thing that nobody other than the person who has to get the baby out from inside […]
