Winter is here – Let Moii keep your littles warm {Giveaway Closed}

Posted by Pregnant In Cape Town on 2 July 2015 · 30 Comments

You guys, winter is here! I work from home, and I can tell you now, I have been working in layers of clothing under my divine Woolies pajama hoodies or in my fluffy teddy bear suit, in bed, under piles of blankets. I have even been known to hold my child in my lap for additional warmth, even though she would rather be doing something else – yes, I said it.

You have probably noticed I also dress said child in one of three adorable fluffy teddybear onesies or in fluffy gowns or ridiculously cute headwear.

Gowns & Hats
Pink bear
Beanies
As gorgeous as Charly looks with flushed pink cheeks and a little pink nose, I would prefer not to spend the entire winter with a sick child. And I don’t know if you have noticed, but it is actually really difficult to get a toddler to keep a hat on… And I haven’t even imagined the drama of tying a scarf in such a way that she can’t get it off, without causing her bodily harm.

So, have a look at this…

Charly hooded cowl

Isn’t it genius??! It’s a hooded cowl; basically a hat and a scarf combined!! Which means she can’t get it off as easily, the icy cold Cape Town winds can’t get into her neck and ears and can you even handle the cuteness??!!

This beautiful handcrafted cowl was created just for Charlotte by the talented Matty-Lize from Moii – Exquisitely handmade; which is a Mamahood Approved business run out of Strand.

Matty-Lize works full-time as a senior secretary at a corporate company in Stellenbosch, so she has hired two talented ladies to work with her to meet all the orders, and ensure the very highest quality and attention goes into making each one. Moii has evolved over the past 6 years; starting as a “for love” crochet business and growing into a newborn props business called “Pickme Photo Props”. From there Matty-Lize started doing a lot of special request character beanies and in December 2014, decided to take stock of where she was and where she wanted to be.

“I wanted to do a winter range; something earthy, classic and stylish,” says Matty-Lize. “I realised I needed a new name, as my focus wasn’t only on newborn photo props anymore. I changed the name of the business to Moii – Exquisitely handmade, and the Winter 2015 range is a huge success.”

She is also mommy to 9 year old Wiehan and 4 year old Lira; who you can see modeling the Winter 2015 range looking adorable and devastatingly gorgeous.

“My kids are my biggest fans,” she says. “I can see the admiration in my boy’s face whenever I show him something new I’ve made. He once said: ‘Mom, you really are good at this. You are always creating something new’. My daughter cannot wait until she is big enough to learn the skill. She loves going to the yarn shop with me; she chooses her favourite ball of wool and tells me exactly what I must make for her. She recently designed a beautiful beanie!”

Placing an order is as simple as having a look at her range and contacting her through Facebook or the blog. Matty-Lize will send you an invoice, you pay, and within 14 days, your custom made winter warmer arrives looking like this ~

The attention to detail in everything from the personal service, thoughtful presentation, and the softness of the yarn is somthing special. You can feel the heart that goes into something beautiful when you hold it.

I also love that Matty-Lize has an inspirational vision for the direction she wants to take Moii in the future.

“My dream is for Moii to grow into something big,” she says. “Moii will one day be a centre where we empower previously disadvantaged woman. They will be taught a skill to create beautiful products with their hands. There will be a daycare on site to ensure that the small children of the trainees and staff will be looked after. We will also have a kitchen and everyone at Moii will receive at least one wholesome meal per day. We will have our own shop on the premises and also supply to gift / boutique shops nationwide. As soon as we’ve got the one centre up and running, we’ll expand and build more of these around the country.”

Matty-Lize

And that’s the heart you can feel in the products. With a wonderful husband who supports her in everything, and two kids who believe in her 100%; I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a Moii centre really soon!
