Something strange has happened to me since becoming a girl-mom; I’ve fallen in love with all things pastel, pink, purple and plush and I want all the dolls and ponies – ALL of them! You can roll your eyes all you like; I was a tomboy as a kid, but now my eyes light up as much as my daughter’s when gorgeous things arrive on our doorstep. And land on our doorstep she did; the beautiful Cloe SnowKissed Bratz doll.
Some of you will recognise the Bratz name from TV and movies, because they have been a huge hit overseas for many years, and now we have #BratzinSA thanks to Prima Toys! Prima Toys held an in-store launch in Joburg on Thursday last week to celebrate the arrival of the awesome Bratz doll range (which I was SO sad to miss)!
While my newfound love of “girl” things certainly includes my Charly’s beautiful Bratz doll; the range of dolls in South Africa are far more fashionable and representative of the strong self-assured young women of today than they are of “pretty and pink”. The dolls are actually created with 6 to 10 year olds in mind, allowing them to explore fashion with dress up and mixing and matching styles and accessories; but Charly at 20 months is as enthralled by this beautiful doll as I am at 33 years old (yep, I am THAT old).
Cloe’s clothes are so bright, gorgeous and no doubt trendy (said the mom who describes her style as “pajama chic”); I have been told that each of these dolls are dressed according to pop culture trends, and have current hair and beauty looks (one with pale pink hair and another with a “hipster-style” undercut).
I love that the Bratz are designed to encourage “self-expression, individuality, confidence and creativity” and that they are representative of all cultures; a really positive asset in the South African toy world. There are five dolls, Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, Sasha and Raya; which come in 7 playsets including “Hello my name is”, Fierce Fitness, Study Abroad, Sleepover Party Doll, #SnowKissed, #SelfieSnaps and even an actual Bratz Selfie Stick that comes with a doll.
And this week, you can win with me and Bratz, one of the awesome new Bratz dolls for a special little girl in your life – even if that special little girl is you – JUST in time for Christmas 🙂
