Our Birth Story: The C-Section Recovery (Part Two)

So, where were we… arriving back in our room and being set up with press-button morphine. Basically every time you start feeling sore, you press the button. I think there is a 10 minute (or so) window between when it will produce the goods. On top of that, every 4 hours a nurse brings you more pills and adds things to the IV. Excess Baggage

As you all know I created the most comprehensive hospital bag list known to man for Charly’s arrival. This resulted in my taking a small suitcase, a large togbag & an oversized handbag with me to the hospital. I opened each bag only once to get out what I would need & unsurprisingly that was not very much. Although I know that most of you will likely pack everything & the kitchen sink, just in case (& I still agree with that), you will be a different person the second your newborn is in your arms & you really won’t need anything else. New Mommy Problems

5 weeks and 1 day, I have no idea where the time went! Charly is changing daily now, she is no longer just a little creature that eats and sleeps. She has long periods where she is awake and alert; where she turns her head when she hears my voice and she stares into my eyes for ages until her little eyes cross. [Read more…]

Going With It

I was going to incorporate this into my final post, but then I ended up writing the beginning of a whole different summary post to end this “pregnancy chapter” of Pregnant in Cape Town. For those who have wondered, I still intend to blog on PICT and remain active on Social Media in that name once Charly is here to keep the conversations going. Partly because I am proud of what I have created and partly because a large part of me is still hoping that I will one day be “Pregnant in Cape Town” again. Wonder, Learning & Decision-Making

I am blown away by technology on so many levels and the 4D scan yesterday was no exception – what an amazing experience! Some of you will have seen the video I posted, which is the perfect example of how 4D scans work. When it begins, the shadows make the image quite terrifying, but after a few seconds it shifts and you can clearly see her face emerge. How unbelievable is that? [Read more…]
