When I was pregnant I spent hours in the bath watching Charly move around in my tummy, she loved the water even then. The bath is still her favourite place to be. Because of that, over the past 2 years we have accumulated quite a collection of bath toys. Bath crayons, bath beads, gels, bubbles, sponges, bath stickers, bath faces, boats, cups, watering cans… Her favourite by far was the Yookidoo Flow n Fill I got her for Christmas. Before Yookidoo South Africa sent us 2 new ones to try for International Bath Day (today, 14 June). [Read more…]
I have this overwhelming urge to dress all the kids I know in these little chef outfits from 3rd Kid Creations. I suspect I have found Charly’s next birthday party theme (yes, I realise we just had her birthday party and that the next is almost a whole year away). She LOVES cooking and being in the kitchen and dad teaches her how to do everything herself. I nearly fainted when I walked into the kitchen and she was peeling a potato – DANGER DANGER!!!! But daddy was right there and he watches her like a hawk… so I just stay out of the kitchen to calm my nerves. I hope our 3rd Kid Creations winner loves cooking just as much! [Read more…]
One of my favourite things about having this blog and Tums 2 Tots, is the amazing talent I come across while doing it. I have a thing about handmade items, as many of you will know; and this amazing small business owner that found me through Tums 2 Tots uses her talent to hand make the MOST adorable goods for kids! Meet Farayi Chikwete of 3rd Kid Creations!
When I posted a million years ago, I mentioned that I was trying out Umatie baby and kids food. The fact that my toddler is embracing the terrible twos with every iota of her little being and refusing to eat pretty much anything, means that this review was delayed. By a lot. [Read more…]
Most of you know I have had a very rough few weeks. With Miss C being sick and then me being sick and then the huge backlog of work that results from being sick, plus the endless public holidays – these are NOT welcome when you run your own businesses – and C’s bizarre behaviour of late. I am feeling frazzled. A couple of weeks ago, I was having a particularly awful week and then I got the opportunity to try a new service called SweepSouth. You guys, I got a magic cleaning fairy that transformed the chaos of my house from having a sick toddler at home into one of those TV screen houses in 4 hours! And I booked it 2 days before. I know you have been seeing SCHNOOKY PIE everywhere lately, and with good reason. Once our mommy community finds something we love, we tend to want to share it with everyone. We also tend to suffer from terrible FOMO (fear of missing out) when we start seeing all of our friends talking about something we don’t know about. Schnooky Pie babygrows are the perfect example of practical meets passion – and NOTHING is more amazing than when that magic happens. To make absolutely sure that you know ALL about this awesome proudly South African brand, I chatted to owner and creator Jaclyn Holmes. Schnooky Pie provides a gorgeous solution to a problem EVERY mom has! Read more to find out what it is… [Read more…]

As some of you might be aware, February is host to pregnancy awareness week. The purpose of this week is to promote and share knowledge on the importance of proper prenatal care and how to best have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. With that in mind, I have teamed up with Preggi Bellies to share a little on the importance of healthy balanced exercise during pregnancy, and they have agreed to give my readers – you – a free medical screening and a free class so you can see what they do. Being a mom has meant a lot less gifts for me, from Brett or from myself, because we both so love spending that money on Charly. On the odd occasion where Brett has thoughtfully bought me a little spoil, it is generally shared with Charly too. So all I want for Christmas is something just for me.
I love that I have been able to support this very special mommy and her business by sharing her with all of you! Thank you all for showing your love and support for Oh!Boy kids. It means so much to small mom-owned businesses to have the support of other moms. And since this year, everybody seems to be a little strapped for cash, it is great to find such lovingly made items that kids love for such amazing prices.
